Dee & Steph weren’t going to have a wedding photographer for their Carton House Wedding. Shocker, I know. Dee’s sister Aine booked me as a gift for them and boy are we all glad she did. Dee & Steph (and their family) are those people I know I’ll be friends with for years to come. I definitely want to go for pints with Dee’s dad. He’s a character, and full of stories. Hates his photo being taken so I took it as a personal challenge to catch him unawares at least once during the wedding. Spoiler alert, I succeeded.

Sunny Carton House Wedding Photographer

The day of their wedding was an absolute scorcher. There wasn’t a bit of shade to be found for their formals so we just embraced it. I created one of my favourite images of the year by challenging myself. The whole day was very chill. I arrived 3 hours beforehand for prep and for pre-ceremony canapés (delicious in case you’re wondering). Their wedding was a family affair with everyone throwing themselves into it and really embracing the love bug that was going on.

Outdoor wedding Ireland

Most of the wedding was held outside. With a beautifully intimate outdoor ceremony under the shade of a massive tree. The drinks reception was held in the courtyard away from the hustle and bustle of the main hotel area. It felt like we were in Spain.

Memorable wedding ceremony song

Dee & Steph were married in the midst of strict Covid-19 restrictions so they weren’t allowed any live music at their wedding. One of my favourite moments was when their close family friend started singing the The High Kings – Red is the Rose. It was so wonderfully beautiful and romantic all at the same time.
