Haven Hotel Waterford Irish Wedding Photographer – Mike & Nicola
Mike & I go way back. We lived together in college, I was a less than ideal housemate, but the less said about that, the better. I had met Nicola a few times over the years and they seemed to compliment each other so well so I wasn’t surprised when Mike contacted me to be their Haven Hotel Waterford Irish Wedding Photographer.
The engagement
They first met in Ardkeen Quality Foodstore where they worked together. Mike says “In 2006 we had a first and seemingly last date as things didn’t work out and I left the Stores to follow a career in graphic design. In 2009 Nicola spotted me in the local paper and dropped me a text which sparked our connection off again and we’ve been together ever since”. The proposal was at home and very low key. Mike recruited the help of their daughter Chloe on the 13th February the day before Valentine’s Day in 2011. The 13th has special significance for them but Nicola had been unwell, and had just returned home from a short spell in Hospital where they discovered she was pregnant on their first son, Will!
The planning
As they had a VERY long engagement, they had their two boys in that time, they didn’t rush in to any planning. Mike’s advice for people planning a wedding “Keep a wedding diary, and as soon as you have decided on a date, start organising. On the week leading up to the wedding, get plenty of sleep. On the wedding day, don’t forget to stop, take a deep breath and appreciate everything that’s going on around you!” He’s a wise man that Mike lad.
It was an honour to document their wedding day and I can’t wait to show you all the photos below, so sit back and enjoy scrolling.
