Should I stage some photographs to save money?

Hi Katie. Should I stage some photographs to save money?

Like a lot couples, we’re on a pretty tight budget. I was wondering, should I stage the getting ready part of the photographs in order to save money? Less time for the photographer means a lower price right?

Love.

Should I stage some photographs to save money?

Hi Michelle.

I get asked this one a lot. I would never stage anything on a weddings day. Unless somehow I missed a very important shot like if a celebrant got in the way of a first kiss or something.

My style of photography is very candid, I like to photograph things as they happen. It would be a waste of time to have a couple re-enact something that happened earlier in the day.

Not to mention the fact that you’d lose time for formals by staging the getting ready shots.

To me, it seems like a false economy and you can’t recreate those intimate, candid moments after they’ve happened. No matter how hard you try.

Love

Katie
