An Irish Covid Christmas Wedding – Aisling & Josef

This stylish Irish Covid Christmas Wedding was just what everyone needed to kick off the festive season!

Aisling & Josef hosted their scaled-back Irish Covid Christmas Wedding in Finnstown House just days before Christmas. It was the perfect start to the festive season. They had some fantastic festive wedding details without being overly Christmas. I just loved the bridesmaid’s green Folkster dresses.

Getting ready

Both parties got ready in Finnstown House which meant I could go from one to the other with ease. Because this wedding happened during Covid restrictions the hotel provided the bridal party with a larger conference room for hair & makeup. This space was greatly appreciated by everyone (this is a top tip if you’re getting ready in a hotel but don’t want to be too squashed). Because the girls had the big room poor Josef drew the short straw with a smaller prep room, but once the whiskey was popped he didn’t seem to mind too much.

The Ceremony

As the festivities were all being held in Finnstown it was a short trot down the stairs over to the ceremony room. Aisling & Josef made their ceremony personal by planting a tree using soil from places in their life that meant something to them. Becuase Josef is a landscape gardener this was perfect for them)

The reception

Because of the Covid-19 wedding restrictions in place at the time, Aisling & Josef could only have 25 people for their wedding reception. Although they missed their friends and family they still had a blast. Their bridesmaids pulled together a very thoughtful slideshow of well-wishes from those who couldn’t be there. I’m not saying I was crying but I’m not saying I wasn’t either. The grounds of Finnstown were the perfect setting for the couple’s formals, meaning we didn’t have to go far to make the most of a rare but stunning Winter sunset.

It really was great to be back working a wedding, especially at Christmas time when everyone seemed to be just dying to let their hair down and just see people outside of their own household.
