How to Calm a Bride’s Nerves On the Wedding Day
It’s not called a big day for nothing! There’s bound to be a few little tummy flutters on the wedding day. Believe me, I’ve seen my fair share.
I’ve pulled together some tips based on my experience.
Alone time
I saw this recently. A bride had assigned a room in the house she was getting ready it. It was purely for her to seek refuge in. It was perfect for calming her nerves.
Have a little tipple
This one seems pretty obvious but many brides actually don’t drink during their prep. Now I’m not saying that you should get hammered with your maids. A cold glass of champagne always helps to calm the bride a bit. If anything it’ll take their mind off the current stress.
Move around
Sitting around all morning, you’re bound to get a bit restless. Get up, walk around, do some laps. I once had a bride and her maids jump on the bed. Whatever you want. Like exercise it will release those happy hormones.
Take a break
I recommend this to every single couple I have met, whether I’m photographing their day or not. Take some time for just to two of you. Catch up on what each of you got up to prepping for the big day. This helps to calm the nerves and makes you much more comfortable with each other for the photo stage of the day.
Don’t sweat the small stuff
I know those DIY favours took you forever to make but really nobody is going to notice if they’re not 100% perfect. When all the little mishaps start to overwhelm, take a moment to remember why you’re doing this. Think of happy times. Remember the proposal? That was great wasn’t it?
