Dublin Irish Wedding Photographer – Best of 2017
Sitting down to do this I have my 3 brand words in mind; Fun, Candid & Romantic. Calling them brand words seems very formal. They’re essentially what I’m about as a photographer. It’s what I think a wedding day should be. Hopefully if you’re having fun, the candids will be good. And even if you don’t consider yourself a ‘romantic’ person, we’re all romantic in our way. The word ‘best’ complicates things. Are these technically the best photographs ever taken? No. But they are my best representation of what happened on the day and in the moment.
2017 was an amazing year for me personally. It was the year Darran and I finally got engaged (after 9 years). I witnessed many friends and family members pledge themselves to one another for the rest of their lives. I made some amazing new friends through this job. I worked with some of my heroes in this mad world we call the wedding industry. Shout out to Lisa Devlin for organising a whopper Photography Farm in Brighton. I didn’t travel as much as I’d like, but visited some breath taking spots all the same.
Looking back on the photographs I noticed a few things. It was windy on most of my wedding days. The other wedding photographers in this country really do have my back, shout out to Carol Sweeney & Katya Koliban! My couples are the bomb and continue to surprise me with their trust and faith in my ability every year.
I still can’t do a pull-up but I’m fitter and stronger than I was this time last year. I STILL love crisps and gin, and recently champagne/prosecco/anything with fizz. And finally, when all is said and done all that really matters is the people around us. Those who build us up when we’re feeling down, those who celebrate our triumphs. And those who love us, no matter what.
This ones for everyone who supported me along this crazy journey. I can’t wait to see what 2018 has in store for us all.
