Alternative Weddings at Mount Druid Wedding Photography – Heather & Doug

This wedding… let me give you a bit of a back story. Alternative Weddings at Mount Druid Wedding Photography

Doug and Heather met at Electric Picnic at a Massive Attack gig. Were you there? I was, I left, the rain was the worst I’ve ever seen. My tent flooded. It was miserable. Anyway, back to Heather & Doug. All their mates were heading off, they’d just met through mutual friends. They decided to stay for the remainder of the gig and that’s how it all started. Fast forward a couple of years and back at that faithful site in Stradbally. Doug plucked up the courage to ask Heather to be his missus.

Doug is a very good friend of my sister. Heather emailed me when I was in Australia to tell me she’d seen my work and would love me to photograph her wedding.  We moved back from Australia in December 2016, we needed a place to live. Heather & Doug were moving from their beautiful little house and asked us did we want to see it. Guess where we now live? Since coming home from Australia we have become the best of friends. So much so, that Darran and I were invited as guests to the wedding. He’s lucky that Darran lad. He gets to hooch it up while I do all the hard work.

Even after all this time, and all these wedding, I still get nervous in the lead up. It’s natural. But this one had to be perfect. Although I was completely confident in my ability to photograph the wedding, when it’s your friends, it’a whole other pressure. Thankfully, the day went off without a hitch and we had such a laugh from the minute I walked in the door for bridal prep. Heather & Doug opted for a first look in the grounds of Mount Druid. Which was honestly, the best thing ever. (especially with those Hippenings balloons) Doing their portraits before the ceremony meant they got to enjoy their entire drinks reception!

I give you Heather & Doug, nothing’s gonna stop them now! Alternative Weddings at Mount Druid Wedding Photography
